Halle Berry has had to kiss a lot of toads in her lifetime. Last month, Halle Berry announced to the world of her intentions to divorce Olivier Martinez, husband number three. After only two years of marriage to the hunky French actor, the X-Men actress decided to call it quits.
After a string of tumultuous and often abusive relationships, it was thought that Halle had finally found her Prince Charming in the charismatic and handsome Olivier. We were all rooting for her. Alas, it was not meant to be. Will Halle ever find her Prince? It seems that the happily-ever-after fairy tale ending eludes the gorgeous actress. The answer does lie in her natal chart.
She was born Maria Halle Berry; her name was legally changed to Halle Maria Berry at age five. Her middle name comes from the department store Halle’s which is a local landmark in Cleveland, Ohio.
Her parents divorced when she was just four years years old and was raised solely by her mother Judith Ann Hawkins. Her mother has cited that Halle’s father, Jerome Berry was physically abusive towards her.
Halle was born on August 14, 1966 at 11:59 p.m. in Cleveland, Ohio and has the distinction of being a double Leo. She has both her her Sun and Moon in Leo. That means Halle has a double dose of charm, creativity and a flare for drama. She also has a double-dose of self-centredness and needing to be the centre of attention which bodes very well for a career in acting; it may not bode so well for intimate relationships.
Halle has an earthy, sensual and practical Taurus ascendant. Its’ ruler Venus sits happily at 29˚ of Cancer aspecting in opposition Halle’s Midheaven at 29˚ Capricorn. When you find critical degrees in the chart, it usually points to an emphasized function of the planet involved and traits of that planet are expressed outwardly very easily. In Halle’s case it is her Venus which is the planet that bestows her with her natural good looks and grace. The fact it is aspecting her Midheaven points to the fact that this Venus was going to bring her fame and fortune through the avenue of her looks. Halle’s past career choices in the past have been Venus ruled fields such as modeling and beauty pageant contestant in which she has excelled.
Most women would be very envious of Halle’s fortuitous celestial alignment in her career house. She certainly has been blessed with amazing luck in the looks department. The fates giveth with one hand and then with the other hand, they taketh away. Unfortunately, Halle has a troubled seventh house which is the house of partnerships and committed relationships. Halle’s seventh house is in intense and overpowering Scorpio which might help explain her penchant for domineering men. Neptune is happily situated in her seventh house. Neptune can be the planet of romance and universal love. It is also the planet of deception and smoke and mirrors. When it comes to love, Halle does not have the best judgement. Blame Neptune for this. It renders Halle incapable of being able to see the forest from the trees. This Neptune also squares her Leo Sun. She has ambivalent feelings about the men in her life probably stemming from an absent father figure in her childhood.
The ruler of this seventh house is Pluto which is conjunct Uranus in the fifth house. Having Uranus conjunct the lord of seventh is not a good omen. It means you can expect sudden changes, separations and break-ups in your partnerships. Anywhere Pluto resides in the chart you can also count on power struggles. In Halle’s case, it sits in her fifth house which rules romance and children. As we know, Halle had a long drawn-out custody battle with her ex-boyfriend, Canadian model, Gabriel Aubry. Halle who was seeing Olivier Martinez at the time wanted to relocate to France with her daughter Nahla; Aubry went to court to stop Halle’s plans of relocation which resulted in a violent altercation with Aubry and Martinez, an ex-boxer. The question is with her pending divorce to Martinez will we see the same kind of struggle for the custody of their two year old son Maceo? This, of course, is a possibility; after all Martinez is a native of France.
Olivier Martinez was born on January 12, 1966, 9:55 p.m. in Paris, France. He is the son of a Spanish professional boxer and a French mother. Martinez was born under the sign of the goat. He has an ambitious and self-disciplined Capricorn Sun. Capricorns always like to give off the facade of being in complete control. He has a diplomatic and artistic Libra Moon. Partnerships are important to this man. Olivier has had a bevy of beauties around him most of his acting career from Mira Sorvino to Kylie Minogue. His romantic partnership oriented Moon may explain why. Many who know him always comment on his passionate, proud Gallic nature. Olivier has an earthy, youthful Virgo Ascendant but both Pluto and Uranus are conjunct his Ascendant. There is a bottomless well of emotion and depth to this man; not to mention moodiness and changeability at the drop of a hat.
There is baffling synastry between these two attractive specimens. It is probably a case of being on a movie set for a prolonged period of time and finding camaraderie with each other. The synastry between these two is very weak. The orbs of aspects of the personal planets is very wide which feels like it is close but there is no cigar. Their tightest aspect in their synastry is Olivier’s Sun at 22˚ Capricorn which opposes Halle’s Jupiter at 22˚ Cancer. Oppositions are stressful aspects. Their synastry is also wracked with quincunxes from his Sun to her Sun and from his Venus/Mars conjunction to her Pluto/Uranus conjunction. A quincunx is such a difficult aspect to reconcile with in synastry because there is no common ground by either parties. You are stuck in purgatory.
Olivier does embody the Plutonian male archetype we see from Halle’s Scorpionic Descendant. However he does not have a single planet in the fire element which for Halle would be important because of her Leo Sun. She wants and needs a strong male figure in her life. He does have planets in the 1st and 5th house which could compensate for the lack of fire element in his chart.
There are some oppositions in their chart which can be very sexy and magnetic in the initial stages of the romance but require a great deal of work and compromise in order to balance out in the long run. Halle’s Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Moon all oppose Olivier’s Capricorn Sun. The person with the personal planets, in this case Halle, will find the Sun person Olivier overbearing. With Venus and Jupiter there is certainly a willingness to work out the differences but their value systems are very different and both are prone to excesses.
Oliver has a steamy Mars/Venus conjunction in Aquarius which widely opposes Halle’s Leo Sun. Again, very sexy but requires work and compromise.
Olivier and Halle are close in age and share the same position of the outer planets. Olivier’ s Neptune is in very close in mathematical degree to Halle’s which means Olivier Neptune tends to exacerbate Halle’s ambivalent feelings towards men and a absent male figure in her life. There is something in their relationship that is eluding her and does not feel stable to her.
The other red flag in the synastry is that Halle’s Leo planets fall into Olivier’s 12th house. This is very similar to the Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale relationship http://www.realm-of-astrology.com/no-doubt-it-is-over-for-gwen-and-gavin-2/#more-487. As we saw with Gavin, it meant he withheld information from Gwen about his sexual escapades. Rumour has it he had a three-year fling with the hot young nanny. Folks, you need to hire Nanny McPhee to look after your kids. It never ends well when you hire a smoking, hot twenty-something-year-old. Ask Ethan Hawke and Ben Affleck. The 12th house is a very difficult place to host your beloved’s personal planets. There will always be an element of secrecy and deception in the relationship that is hidden from the other partner.
They do have some nice aspects? Yes, their Moons are widely sextiling each other which lends some tranquility to their domestic life and daily routines. Halle’s Neptune sextiles Olivier’s Sun. There is a natural sensitivity and understanding of each other but if not careful they can project unrealistic expectations onto each other. Interestingly, both Olivier’s and Halle’s Neptune are conjunct Halle’s south node. So there is an element of confusion and disillusionment in their relationship. Some may argue that this was their past karma because it involves the nodal axis and the south node. It is hard to say but it is obvious that the relationship was going to be anything but straightforward. So theirs was going to be a troubled relationship from the get-go. It probably did not help that Halle was the primary breadwinner in the relationship and probably wore the pants. That could not have been easy for the proud ambitious Capricorn Olivier to handle.
If Halle had consulted an astrologer before taking the plunge three years ago, an astrologer would have cautioned her strongly against a third marriage. By transit, she was going to experience Saturn going through her 7th house. Her natal chart had a weak 7th house and her synastry with her intended paramour was not strong. The marriage could not have withstood the Saturn transit going the the 7th house as it did over the last two years.
Should Halle swear off men and join a convent? No, I would not say that but I would certainly tell her not dive into the pool head first without checking to see if there is water. Saturn is a teacher and no doubt Halle has learned her lessons. The good news is Saturn won’t visit her 7th house again for another 28 years. Saturn always does leave behind the gift of wisdom.
